If you try to make the salmon with the jointed tail, you will need more lead than what it shows in the diagram. And I believe the line tie is too far back, I don't have the book anymore, but I think I put the tie farther ahead.

There is a good article on the Michigan Darkhouse website that describes how to weight decoys. That is how I have doing mine and it works good.

Shamalex72, what do you use for the line tie, and do your decoys come out about the same size in the book or a little smaller? In the book the pike one looks like it might be a little too big for my taste.

I use wire, not sure what gauge it is though. I have only made one going off of the diagrams in the book, but yes, it is a little smaller.

Here's some more decoys that I made over the past few months. Just finished the northern about a week ago. Gonna be putting the decoys on hold for a while, time to start chasing muskies.
