This is our first year with an RV that has a slide and I am wondering if I need to lube the walls of the slide out with something like silicone or similar? Or am I better off just keeping them clean?

Main thing to remember is that you need to sweep the roof off before you slide it in. Shouldn't need to lube anything. The sidewalls shouldn't rub on anything but the seals when you move it in or out.

One thing I was told was not to OVER lube it.
I was told the dust and dirt and crud that gets in the channels id nearly inpossible to get out.

Keep them clean and have someone watch whey you're pulling it in to see that the rubber stays as it should to ensure your sealing out the weather.
