I think it would be good and probably not much competition out there. Probably wouldn't hurt to bring some jigs and minnows as a back up. There are some very nice 'eyes in there! I get so busy in October bowhunting and duck hunting that I don't get to fish. Next year, no trips in October, just gonna hunt and fish around here.

Brians right on the competition thing. I only saw one vehicle at the landing this evening. got a buddy who all he did was pull cranks over deep water adjacent to humps and did very well for large eyes out there. it has been some years since he has done so, but the fish are still there. give her a go!

Thanks bmc, jigglestick, and lambjm for your input. I was looking at my lake map closer and wow what a pile of structure! Do you have any ideas wher I should start my search for late fall deer lake eyes?

Actually, I have been fishing some smaller lakes and have caught my eyes in fairly shallow water where a creek comes into the lake. I have tried trolling raps along the weedlines with nothing more than some northerns. Chartruese jig and a minnow have produced some walleyes, again off the weedlines or shallow humps that drop off into deep water. Fished Spider recently with some luck for the northerns, but not walleyes. I am fairly new to the area so I haven't fished a lot of different lakes.
