Walleyes are deeper during day but catchable - deep diving cranks or try jiggin some medium sucker minnows. Key on the bottom of the first break usually around 24ft. We are keying on the lowlight bite because that's when the majority of the walleyes start to put the feedback on.

Decent outing last night - 11 walleyes between 19 and 26. Few more that came unbuttoned on the way in and the usual missed hooksets. Also lost something big after I noticed the "snag" was swimming sideways. Put a little more pressure on the fish, felt a lot of weight and then a big head shake and... well so much for 30lb braid and one less HJ12 in the tackle box. Thinking musky. We were using minnow baits like HJ12 and firetiger, golden shiner, purple perch were the colors.

Mark: I may have seen you catch one, what's your boat look like? How many feet of line did you let out with those HJ12's?

My 8 year old and I tried some trolling in Brown's and then some jigging until dark and caught zilch (saw a few caught). Brought him in and then hit the channels trolling with cranks. Again saw some caught but did not hook-up myself. Tried 8-10 different lures and speeds and then called it a night. Will definately be out there again!

Oh, I did get one thing - a construction barrier floating in the middle of the West Arm. It was sticking out of the water about 1 inch. Didn't appear to damage the boat/motor. Will take a closer look tonight.

Awesome Mark! Glad to hear you got into them good. I'm going to try my hand on the great water tonight, probably try the same tricks your using. Hope to have half the success you guys had!

We were Dave's Ranger Reata. I let out enough line to be ticking the rocks in the channels (about 80ft) or to run over the weeds when in the main lake. I have a Precision Trolling manual to gives you the number of feet back for running depth. Highly recommend it. I also experiment all night long. SOmetimes the fish want the lure just banging off stuff other nights you need to run above everything.

Dave won the overall fish caught but I have serious reservations including green carp in the fish total.

Wow, didn't know I was so close to the legendary Mr. Stanley..You guys did have a good night...I would have stayed out later but had too much [PoorWordUsage] to organize at home...Next time i'm gonna have to get ramming speed to see who's in the boat with you.. grin Fortunately I only had to witness them catch one fish right next to me...Better watch out or that boat's gonna draw a crowd.. grin

It was interesting to troll in a crowd when everyone was going different speeds! From what I saw, the gas powered motors don't seem to bother them. I suppose they're used to them buzzing over there heads all summer.

I was trying to shake the green carp off but they wouldn't go away grin

I'll emphasize what Mark said, you need to experiment if you're not catching fish. There were 2 or 3 times last night when our baits went cold and we switched to something new and started catching fish again right after changing (it was one of those nights when it worked like it was supposed to grin) We also changed speeds, faster when the moon was shining bright, slower when it clouded up.

We ended up getting three in the boat in an hour and a half. Lost another three, one was a real pig. Got a real solid 26" and a 25". My BIL got a 24". Got them on blue/chrome hj12's. No bass.

That's a nice hour and a half of fishing and some real quality fish. One of the 25's we caught last week looked more like a carp than a walleye, some of them sure are tanks. We had some fish get off too, it's frustrating, the hooks grab and hold everything in the boat so you wonder how the fish can get off.
