Looking for help. I have 2005 4-stroke yamaha 8 horse.
When starting the motor seems tough, it gets going but I have to keep it running by keeping the choke all the way out. If I push the choke in it will idle, but as soon as I give it gas it will bog down and die. It sounds as if it isn't getting gas, but I can't see anywhere that could be a problem.
Also the red light in the front of the motor that is normally on when it is running isn't coming on when it is running.
Any help would be apprieciated.
Thanks

It does sound like a dirty carburator. You may also want to check all the obvious things like hose, primer bulb, connections, fuel filter.

I was looking ... red light is low oil so good thing it isn't on.
Checked all hoses and all look good. Fuel filter looks good and when hose was off would squeeze ball and gas would squirt out. So I feel all that is ok. I took the bottom screw out of the carb to make sure no water in there. Didn't do anything with the carb as I really don't have a good place to do it while on the lake.
