Just curious to know if anyone has caught any in or downstream of lake pepin? It shows their range as being as far north almost too the MN/IA border. I've caught more silvers in pepin than I could begin to count, but I've caught a few that have had more of a yellowish hue to them...I just want to make sure I'm not just seeing things.

If you've ever caught a yellow bass, you'll know it. The white bass has smaller stripes compared to it's body size while the yellow have thick lines campared to it's body. Some white bass do have a slight yellow hue to it. I've caught them like that too and some with a slight blue hue. It's as easy as distinguishing a largemouth and a smallmouth.

Boy, they're fun to catch!!! Catch quite a few down in Clear Lake. There smaller but a blast, actually I think the state record is only a pound in a half. I wasn't aware of any MN waters that held them. That's kinda cool to hear. Oh Yeah, they're real tastey too!

Here's a couple I got out last winter.

The yellow color wasn't as strong...hybrid between the 2 maybe?

Clear Lake, Iowa has a high population of yellow bass. Slip bobbers and minnows are a great way to catch them. Most of the fish average between 8-12 inches. Fish the rock structure in 10-12' of water and an angler can usually catch a good mess of them. Ice fishing and May are the best times to catch them.
