Most people claim to know this some don't ...its all good to use.

Pinching is cool....on womens an hook barbs.

As far a pressure...there is always one biting some place an there are lots of someplces to fish.
smile

Real reason for the increase in fishing pressure last 13 seasons.....Well [PoorWordUsage]....everyone knows I'm THE most handsome, fun dude to fish with in area...
Know one or two things...but not nearly as much as some think.....never take myself to seriously or diss others...it is after all just fishen.
It is sposed to be fun eh?
Good times away from things of man and all in life that aint so fun on land .....plus I give it all up to those that ask with a smile and for FREE ...fishen wise free...
Well I like really BIG Cheese burgers...but close to free.
smile

Unless it was a joke (lots of winks and smiley faces used), I must have missed something, and I don't doubt that I did 'cause sometimes I just ain't that bright, but what state record was caught on Vermillion recently or anytime in the last several years?

What probably would have been a state record muskie was caught and released.

No verifiable state records have come out of Vermilion that I know of. Some rather large muskies have been caught in the past few years not only in Vermilion but Mil Lacs and yes several other lakes that may have weighed more than the current record of 54 lbs but to the credit of all who caught them they were all released. grin

Oh c’mon man that’s not Vermilion, that was caught somewhere in Canada. I looked it up on snopes. Nice try.

Just kidding grin

That fish brings a smile to my face every time I see it, knowing that there is a good probability that its still swimming out there. I’m sure I probably said it before (but it’s worth saying again), very commendable thing you did there letting her go.

That pic never gets old eek What a belly -- Almost as big as mine grin
Did you ever get a replica done? Who did it? I bet a full size pick would look incredible. I had a contact 10 years ago who had a fullsize pic of my friends 46.5" that looked huge--- I can only imagine what yours would look like along side of his.
There is a company out that makes these fullsize prints now. I am sure a internet search would bring up several options.

Congrats on that "Once in a Lifetime" fish

I had a replica done by Artistic Anglers in Duluth. Turned out pretty nice, 13 inch perch in it's mouth. Only thing is that replicas have flat sides where as the fish was round like a barrel, sort of like me. grin

No room left in the house for a full size pic but I bet it would look pretty impressive.

That is a great looking mount.

Should've stuck a 17" Walleye in there wink

The replica looks awsome-- How about a fall whitefish---between the teeth. I think the replica w/perch and driftwood look awsome together grin
Good Luck this fall - get the matching bookend!

Sort of wanted a tulibee or whitefish but they had no moulds for those so I settled on the perch. Muskies don't eat walleyes so that would have looked out of place...... smile

Jim, not to turn this thread into any kind of debate. Whether to release or keep a trophy musky has been rehashed a million times.

What I'm interested in is whether you, as a very longtime and thoughtful musky chaser and one who has caught a fish that could have been the state record (certainly within a pound or two if it wasn't the record), feels that at some point he might eventually want to keep one if it may set a new record.

I imagine there was some internal debate out in the boat that Veteran's Day when you pulled in Mrs. Monster.

What are your thoughts on this?

At this point in my life I doubt I would ever keep another muskie, even a MN State Record. However a world record might be another story.
