What's the significance of the 9 AM shooting time for pheasants? Just curious as ND/SD don't have times, not sure about Wisconsin.

SD is even later than MN. From what I know, it protects the birds some.

SD is noon for the first 2 weeks and then 10am after that.

Iowa runs 8:00 to 4:30.

It lets the birds get into the fields and off the roads in the early morning so they won't be so easy to find is my guess.

IA is 8am. It gives the birds time to get up and get moving.

Nebraska doesn't have a time limit either, at least a few years back when I was there, and they were easy to find early - all eating in the bean field. But, by 8:30, they were back in the grass.

I assume then that feeding time must have something to do with it.

yeah, as stated earlier, the pheasants come out to feed in the morning and alot of times are right on the road picking stones.
