When a fish hits your jig/bait, do MarCums beep? I used the simulator mode tonight for the first time, and it beeped, but I don't think I have noticed it out on the ice before. I have an LX-2, btw, if that matters

I asked this smae question last year when I got my LX-5 . I was told no and have found out in the field it does not do this. It would be a nice feature though

Not really sure how this would ever work anyways, it could have an alarm when a fish is close to your jig, or when 2 lines overlap on the screen, but other than that, how would it tell when the fish was biting or just a few inches away?

Why is it in the simulator mode? It signals the end or the instant restart of the simulator mode. During the simulator mode, you see your jig. Then the fish starts from the bottom and when it hits your jig, the unit beeps and goes back into the same simulator mode. I seems great now , but in the end I think it would be shut off. Any type of beeping could get annoying when everything little fish comes close to your bait. Believe me, when you get your unit out and have success with it, you will never think twice of it not having the beep .

Flashers are really an easy thing to get the basics down on, like I tell any rookie using mine or looking on; "You see that big solid thing over here, well thats the bottom, the little yellow line moving up and down when you move the rod is your jig, and anything else is a fish".
Being able to interpret things like bottom content, weed, baitfish, signal strength and the mood of the fish all take some time and experience.

The very early Vex's had a fish alarm...drove folks nuts...so they eliminate it. Yup...and it Drove me nuts...it never got used so I have not missed it to date.

I agree. this would be a very annoying feature. Just because your jig turns red does not mean the fish is biting.
