I'm thinking of heading out to the Linstrom area on Sunday and am looking for advice on what lake to hit.

Looking for multi species general fishing lake.

I am thinking Center Lake but am open to any suggestions (or places to hit on Center)

Thanks

jac- All the lakes up here will produce a pretty good variety of fish. If after walleye, I would hit Green, however because of the slot, I dont think you will be able to keep many. Its also known for crappie as well. If looking more for bass, I would say hit Chisago, which will also give you some decent gills at time. The Center lakes, of Which North seems to be the better lake as of late, will be pretty good for crappie, pike and bass, and may get a few walleye as well.. I would look for shoreline rock with some deeper water near by. The large rock bar near the north end of North Center has had quite a few boat on it as of late.

Thanks for the hints.

I will talk to the guys and see what we decide.

Center looks interesting to me and I am sure Quetico and Shouhan will like the idea of Bass.

Whats biting the best in this areas? I don't care what we fish for, I'm just looking for some hot action. I'd go for some walleye's or crappies. Some panfish for dinner wouldnt be bad either.

I'm with Quetico, I don't care what is biting just that something is biting.

This time of the year can be tough, many lakes are in the stage of roll over where o2 can be just about everywhere. If I were fishing and wanting to catch.. I might target crappies. I would find the deeper areas near shallow rock and look on my eletronics for suspended fish. Bluegills shouldalso be shallow, and a extra walleye, bass, northern, may easily happen.

Pay attention to your surroundings, look for fish surfacing, listen to panfish picking at green weeds in the shallow and adapt to the conditions.

Great day on the water, not many fish (and only a couple worthy of note) but a good day.

Both Center Lakes were interesting, the water level was low and the lake appeared to be turning over as Deitz said so the fish were not really biting we saw a lot fo fish on the finder but they were not really interested in what we offered. Ah well, thats why they call it fishing, not catching.

I took my boat out for a little yesterday and the lake does look like it has turned over. Sorry about the lack of fish, but the trees sure are pretty.. 8-)

It was a great day on the water, in spite of the dearth of fish we had a great time exploring the lake adn yes you are correct the colors were great.

Center is on the gotta fish list for next summer at ther latest. the fall bite normally? If I were to hit center again in a few weeks how would the fishing be?

You can never predict fishing, It could be good, or, it could be tough.. How good is that.. LOL...

Its got plenty of fish in it, for sure. I would think it would be better than what you had this last weekend dealing with Roll Over.

Dietz thanks for the info you provided. Like jac714 said it was slow but we did get enough baby bass and crappies to keep things interesting.

I want to go back to that north shore with less wind and turn over done.

There were a lot of places that had the fishfinder going nuts but no bite, it would be fun to try them again.
