my time to shine. pheasant hunting is a few short hours away. time to dust off the golden. 22 birds last year, but had more free time. i'm ready to rock n roll. times like these its nice that most of your family settled pretty close to the SD border.
weak hatch this year, but the record number of birds last season should make for another excellent year in the western portion of the state.
anyone else birding? or are you doing the smart thing and waiting for the corn to be out?

I'll be chasing ducks around this weekend, then it's back to fall fishing, pheasants can wait till the sloughs freeze and the snow flies!

My dog already got a rooster does that count? I'm going to give fall fishing a whirl this year and hold off on the rooster's a while I may walk around the house here after the swarm takes to the public land across the road, Sometimes I can get a limit out of my wind break!

Running down some ducks this weekend. Way to warm for me to be chasing pheasants, almost to warm to be chasing ducks. I don't enjoy pheasant hunting till we get some snow on the ground.

Yeah I'm getting excited as well. Won't be doing any fishing, but I should be out in the field from about sunrise to sunset. I gettin pumped for those roosters, it's been a long off-season wait.

well my dog turned into a full fledged hunter this weekend. HUGE improvement including dropping birds in hand instead of half alive birds on the ground so they take off again.
limited both days, dogs were great and i cant wait for the corn to be out. got a bird today that was a real nice one. spurs were an inch long and tail feathers were 23"
most of the birds were youngins

Party of two got three roosters on Saturday and got one on Sunday.
