Just wondering if anybody got out and whacked some ducks this weekend. Heard some shooting around the Ocheda area, although I did not fair so well. Ended opener getting skunked, and got one goose and two woodies on Sunday. No matter how many ducks killed still a great time on the water watching the ducks look at the decoys.

We had a blast - I took my two nephews out and I shot one woody then I put the gun down and let them have the rest. The boys did a great job! Ended up with our limit of 6 woodies and only two were hens. After we had our limit of woodies, they just kept coming in to the decoys. The boys practiced picking out the drakes and just having fun. Almost got our heads taken off by a run-away rooster though. I actually felt the wind from its wings when it cut in front of us. Didn't really see much other than woodies. A few mallards (high) and a few teal (early and fast).

Take a kid hunting, man watching the smiles on them was more fun than actually shooting.

Thats weird, we saw hundreds of ducks and not a single woodie among them. Did see a pile of pintails and redheads though.

My brother, myself and one of my buddies had a great hunt on opener. We hunted just over 2 hours and limited out with some ring necks, red heads, teal, mallards, and woodies. We are leaving for North Dakota this Thursday for a long weekend, hope the ducks are around!
Good Luck!

I didn't get a chance to get out this weekend, but did get out monday morning. Saw a lot of ducks, a majority of which were mallards and teal. Only a few woodies. We ended up getting 7 including 3 greenheads and a nice drake greenwing. Had a lot of fun on a perfect morning

Good to hear that everybody had some success, and if not at least a good time. Good luck this weekend and have a safe hunt. Also some roosters out there. Go out and watch the dog work, and shoot a few. Lets hear some more hunting reports from this weekend.
