At a McCain rally, someone in the 'crowd' yells "kill him" as McCain attempts to draw a connection between Obama and terrorim. And McCain said nothing...

Do any of these kooks understand what it must be like to be a black man in this society?

Do any of these hate spewing 'men' ever get up in the morning wondering if someone will make an attempt on their life?

The real courage in this campaign is demonstrated by a man who despite the history of right-wing violence and assinations in this county continues to speak out and bear witness to the high calling of political leadership.

I pray every morning for the safety of Barrack and Michelle Obama. No matter who you are supporting in this election, just stop for a moment and ask if the language of this campaign and the consquences it might engender are worth the risk.

At this stage, even as an Obama supporter, I would rather risk a McCain victory than face the national tragedy that the right-wing campaign dialog seems to be encouraging. Veiled racism, terrorism, and religous intolerance feed the fears of right-wing fringe groups. And the McCain campaign has neither the courage nor the vision to find a more honorable path.

I wish we could just push the 'fast-forward' button to Jan.21 and move on from there.

This is probably one of the best posts on this thread.

There are people on this site that have emphasised Obama's middle name. I wonder why? Do they honestly think that a middle name dictates leadership ability? Or are they trying to veil a reference to cultural/racial/religious origins? And if that is the case do they believe that a person needs to be be upper class, male and most importantly white, to deserve a vote?

Obama will likely face numerous threats if elected, he is taking a chance with his life even running for President. I'm sure the right winged people on this forums will refuse to believe it but it doesn't make it any less true.

Throughout this election I think the true colors are being shown both in the candidates and people in this forum. There are political figures and people on this forum who I have developed more respect for on both sides and there are people who I truly feel have shown their colors and who I have lost any possible respect for.

FM is generally a great place with great guys but I am a little unnerved by some of the comments people have made that I feel show intollerance at best and are borderline racist at worst.

At times we have gotten away from the issues and have started bringing up things as meaningless as a middle name. It makes me shake my head and genuienly question the character of some of our memebers.

I'm trying to determine what value this post was supposed to add. Right now I'm not seeing any. Maybe you can try to explain your thought process for us a little bit. Although I'm not sure I really want to know.

there's already 2 cases of conspricay to assignate obama. You can argue every president or canidate to be has threats....but I've not heard of such cases in regards to Clinton, 2x Bush, Mac.
Could be liberal media...could be another reason...
I dunno.

Collin Powell's story is truly amazing, he has obama and mac's story all in one hahaha.
Of course like any one with high office, he has some ghosts...
But he also has unverisal respect from home and aboard.
Only if Powell ran in 2k.

If Powell would have ran it would have been a land slide victory that might never be topped.

I can think of at least one mess we would not have gotten into if he was our President, and it would be saving us $10 Billion a month.

The guys we truly need in office are the ones most reluctant to run generally. Powell is a perfect example of this.

It is sad the reason he won't run is because he and his wife are afraid of the level of danger posed to them and their family.

Powell has ties to Mai Lai: From Wikipedia:

Colin Powell, then a 31-year-old Army Major, was charged with investigating the letter, which did not specifically reference My Lai (Glen had limited knowledge of the events there). In his report Powell wrote: "In direct refutation of this portrayal is the fact that relations between American soldiers and the Vietnamese people are excellent." Powell's handling of the assignment was later characterized by some observers as "whitewashing" the atrocities of My Lai.[25] In May 2004, Powell, then United States Secretary of State, told CNN's Larry King, "I mean, I was in a unit that was responsible for My Lai. I got there after My Lai happened. So, in war, these sorts of horrible things happen every now and again, but they are still to be deplored."[26]

Powell, although probably a reputable character has sold out and comprimised his integrity many times throughout his career to get where he is/was.

Did anyone read Tim Obrien's "In The Lake of the Woods?"

Also, McCain's hands are not clean as well. He has actual served on the board of the Council of World Freedom which was involved with supplying arms and funds to actual Latin American terrorists in the 1980s.

As the AP puts it: " GOP presidential nominee John McCain has past connections to a private group that supplied aid to guerrillas seeking to overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua in the Iran-Contra affair.

McCain's ties are facing renewed scrutiny after his campaign criticized Barack Obama for his link to a former radical who engaged in violent acts 40 years ago.

The U.S. Council for World Freedom was part of an international organization linked to former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America. The group was dedicated to stamping out communism around the globe."

Don't get me wrong, I think all this guilt by association [PoorWordUsage] is a horrible distraction from the real issues that we need to deal with. But McCain better be careful if he wants to cast the first stone. As this seems to be much more indicting than working on k-12 education with Ayers.

nofish, you are FEAR MONGORING plain and simple. You don't want anyone to be able to quesion your boy Obama so you play the race card, SIMPLY PATHETIC. He's the one who wrote in his own book he'd side with muslims if the political winds were against them, you know the same muslims who did 911 remember? He stopped referring to himself as Barry Obama in college to begin using the more muslim Barack to show his division from whities. Ayres the well known Domestic Terrorist is renounced now when its politically expedient, but Obama didn't mind taking his money and having Ayres jump start his corrupt life in Ill politics with his fundraising efforts.

This is the man you are pushing for President, people have a right to know who and what he really is. Your party chose to run this type person, now you reap what you sow. No one is advocating violence against him and no one should. But ABSOLUTELY people need to know who this guy really is behind the empty suit manican shell he's put out as "The Chosen One" in this sham of an election cycle.

Lets question our canidates. Lets find the answers. I welcome all these new questions. But have YOU questioned yours? Or you are simple doing what everyone is doing--simply brushing aside questions. Are you gona ask these dirty questions to Palin and Mac? or they are your messiahs?

p.s. Just because you have not committed an act of overt racism, does not mean that racism does not exist. Even overt racisim exists today, but far more troubling is the institution racism of our social system. Racism is still very much alive and well, and probably more dangerous now as people can pretend that it doesn't really exist.

See 1:53 into the vid, as irony can be enlightening:

Bill Maher serves on the board of PETA.
No surprise the lefties on board would post not one, but two of his "you Tube" videos on a fishing site.
Is'nt he funny ? crazy

I wish I knew where the evidence was that proves beyond any reasonable doubt that our President, V. Pres., Sec. of State, the cabinet, and all other advisors sat down at some table and hammered out a plan devoted specifically and purposely to conspire and coerce the country and half the free world into believing a total untruth.

I did then and I still believe that the arguments and decisions made were done primarily with the best interest of our country in mind and based on the intelligence at the time.

It's nice to the have the benefit of hind-sight as we have today in which there is ample evidence to suggest although not prove that the intelligence may have been flawed but that just was not the case at that time.

Also, it should be noted that Gen. Powell's motive for trying to talk Pres. Bush out of military action likely had nothing to do with any unbelief in our intelligence but more likely had to do with his moral, political, and military beliefs.
