I'll be going up to Ida on friday afternoon. Plan A is to chase some walleyes... plan B is bass when the g/f gets bored with Walleye fishing (b/c who can't catch a bass?)
How has the Walleye bite been? Are they up on the weedline or deep? What's been the bait of choice? Redtails?
I had luck last fall using a drop shot in deep water but I'm not sure where I should start due to the crazy weather this year.

I always recommend starting at the weed line and work deeper. Especially in the early morning. Redtails or a jig and minnow will work.

#1 I agree to that switching back to shoreline structure this time of year has produced more for me then mid-lake. Don't be afraid to check down to 40 or so even though I don't think turnover has occurred yet.
#2 I'd only be packing redtails if it was me
#3 Darn it, why am I pulling the duck boat up and not the Lund?????
I'm on the road up there tonight.

I don't want to be the guy who takes everybodies advice and then gives nothing back, but that's what I'm going to have to do on the 'eye front. My depth finder went out on me the minute I got on the water... I tried trolling the weedline but that didn't work so great without the locator.
Went shallow for bass and got my mix of large and smallmouth. My 5 biggest fish all came on shallow diving X-Raps along sharp breaks. I tried deeper diving x-raps as well with little to no luck. Spinnerbaits, texas rigged plastics, tubes, frogs, and crankbaits all produced a few fish but the X-rap was the way to go.

I noticed that the top three were ice fishing, buck hunting and rifle ranges. I think that is comical. Anyone fishing Ida lately? I was on it today water temps were still right below 50. I was marking fish but only got one bite...I don't fish that lake much and was wondering if anyone is catching any smallies or walleyes out there. Just looking for confidence...not secrets...
