My bad. The way I read your post I thought you meant you were sitting in a boat in a channel holding up traffic.

toomuchfun - I agree everyone has the right to an area, but it drives me nuts when I see guys anchored in channels, or working them with their electric motors, if they're holding up or blocking traffic. I've seen this the last two times I've been out there, boats fishing in the channels and showing no consideration for the other boat traffic that has a right to the channels also.

I go out of my way for shore fisherman. In fact I won't troll a channel they are fishing in. Those of us with boats have a lot of other options. But like Perchjerker I really get teed off at boaters who anchor up in the channels or just troll at .001 mph with the electric. I usually move at 1.8 to 2.4mph and I always outfish the jig and minnow guys. Especially when it comes to big walleyes.

I agree with your statement. I was talking about the shore fisherman also.

Thanks Mark smile. We shore bounded guys real appericate when the boats have consideration for us. I heartly thanked the two guys that stop their boat for 10 seconds to let me drag my fish from the center of the channel. They taught me a lesson in good eddicits, and I'll follow their footsteps when I have a boat of my own.

all this talk about tonka made me head out there today. Caught a lot of small bass and saw a fricking huge muskie! Probably around 50". Wasn't interested in catching slimers, so i told another fishermen his wear abouts. He was able to hook him but the ski said I don't what this bait anymore and threw it back at him. He casted out again and got the ski to chase but after that, the ski said bye bye.
The fish seemed to disappear at 7...and then it got too cold.

hey Mark, are the smallies still biting or should i stick to largemouths on tonka. i got some smallies about a month and a half ago up near where you had mentioned. i wouldn't mind targeting some walleyes early am either.

Smallies will bite till ice up if you can find them. Walleyes are starting their shallow bite and I'd concentrate on them. You will still get a smallie or two doing that.

Main lake weed edges near steep breaks which right now is like 12ft but as weeds die off gets shallower. Inside edges can work well if it's rocky. I also wouldn't hestitate to drag original raps right over the top of the weed flats but be ready for some pike action. I like to start the hour before sundown. Channels are always an option too.
