As I was grinding my motor in the gravel, I was thinking I should do something about protecting my motor. I know the welded pitchfork trick, any other tricks or pre-made guards that work? Thanks, tim

Skeg Guard is a pretty good product, sure does help in the gravel and even some of the larger rocks, trust me on this one. Theres a new one in my future for my new jon boat with the 50 on it, but then again next year it just may get a jet foot on it.

I slapped a Mac's River Runner on my 15hp for the Mississippi.

Costed $100 and dropped my top end from 21mph down to 18mph, but kept a brand new prop spotless during some mean droughts.

I'd say it paid for itself 100 times and my confidence soared.

I'm not saying you'll be able to get through problem areas easier, but at least it won't cost you a $100 prop to try.

I just bought a 1650AWCC Alumacraft with a 50 Merc on it and will have to give the Mac's a good look if I can't put a jet foot on it in short order. Over 33MPH, (top speed 38,) the way it's set up porpuses enough that without changing props or motor height I don't mind if loses a couple MPH.

Where can you get a jet foot? I've looked around a bit but haven't been able to find one. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places>>>>>

outboard jets, google them they have a website, if your motor ain't over 25hp its not worth it, you lose about %30 of your power in the conversion. I used to have a 115/80 jet on a 17' rig it worked ok but was never truly satisfied with the performance. They will run shallow though
