I have a 14' Jon Boat that I use for duck hunting and fishing smaller lakes. I was tossing around the idea of putting seats in it. I think it would be more comfortable (especially fishing) but I am concerned with having the seats compromise some of the mobility for me and/or the dog in the boat.

Does anyone have and experience/opinions?

Use the clamp in swivels. That way you can put in and take out the seats as you need them or dont.

I have a canvas seat that's used for a canoe that might work out OK for you. It's just two pieces of canvas with a bit of padding and straps near the 'hinge' portion. When you sit down you anchor it and you can lean back pretty well. I'm not so sure it would be great of duck hunting since you're up and down a lot and also want to swivel. The problem with the clamp down ones is as soon as you lean back to far you're back on your arse and have a heck of a time getting up. If you go with those add a piece of rope under the seat to minimize your tipups.

On Saturday I just put a bucket down then a boat seat on top of that. That was pretty comfy and it wasnt permanant.
