hey dan. thanks. yeah it makes sense. as far as the hooks and that i can't tell you what it looks like on your screen vs. mine, i.e. gain, sensitivity etc. etc. plus i've got a 339c iGPS with the dual transducer. i have a smaller cone than most. anyway. i ask because those tightly grouped schools show up on the screen in those areas all the time on me. not once have i hooked up on anything. i know sheep head do it too but not so tight, this is very, very tight, and huge. the only thing i can think of is large shad. or i guess maybe theres a dibris field. i usually get some pretty large fish returns around these too... underneath and among them. at least they may be big fish, lol. never hooked them either. when i say large area i mean really large. half a football field or bigger, really tightly grouped in the whole area at almost the same depth, maybe a 5 foot or so variance. was just wondering if somebody has another senario i'm not thinking of, or just knows. thanks again.

I've been trolling through a few spots like that also, maybe not as big as what you're describing, but pretty big. I thought I would have at least snagged one by default when I was trolling through, but nothing!? I don't know what to make of it

I have gone out with Turk. It was the best money I have ever spent for fishing. It will even save you money in the long run. He will teach you what to use, so you can throw away all the needless stuff in your tackle box and just get the stuff you can accually use. Instead of spending hundreds on lures you don't need give some of it to Turk. I will see you for my cut later Turk.LOL

Odds are that these groups you are seeing are rough fish. The best thing to do is send down a camera on a calm sunny day.You dont have much visibility past 20fow but you can identify .A couple of years ago I was up river and marked fish after fish on the graph, this was late fall and I thought I had a mother load of eyes stacking up.I threw down my camera and drifted downstream,It was nothing but big suckers all the way down a 150 yard stretch. If you can get a calm day put down the fishing rod and checked out the underworld of the Croix, youll learn alot without wetting a line.

Actually it was in the channel from the high bridge down to the first bend on the minnesota side. Most times this is a good drift for eyes and there were some mixed in,but mostly suckers.

high bridge down to the first bend on the minnesota side 94 or railroad bridge? just wondering because below the 94 is a pretty good flats area for awhile just not deep untill you hit the hole out there. but after hitting that hole going out to midriver, nothing hooked. in the hole just about everything. on the flats everything. just wondering. thanks. maybe next year i'll get that strike vision. ...i can take video's!!!

does anyone know how much it is for turk or river dan or any other guide is on the st croix costs for walleyes? Google St. Croix guides and you'll find 'em. Turk is on the homepage here and his site is http://www.croixsippi.com/

i was making sure because some people call either ''the high bridge'', lol. yeah thats a little skinnier water than i mean but thanks. probly a good reason why it's great cat, northern, muskie, sturgeon country up there. plenty of food. not to mention downed trees and plenty of other cover. anyway, thanks for the info.
