Hey Cedarnarrows,

I was just up at straw checking one of my boats yesterday and I saw what looked to be a bull elk cross just in front of me.

I know there is a sign at the start of the cedar (green sign) stating some type of elk restoration project of something.

Have you guys ever seen one, during your trips up to the cabin?

We saw a bull elk a couple years ago. I've heard most or all of them have collars? Did you get a good look?

A few in that area. I have seen them around Pipestone, just a few miles away and over by Harris Lake as well. Alot more in the area up by Cameron where they were released at.

I didn't notice that it had a collar, but I was an elk that's for sure.

Here are some pictures from the past few days. The laker fishing is really turning on, if you have good electronics you can catch them almost at will. I can't wait to see what the rest of the month brings.

Enjoy.

We have been having temps in the high 50's to high 60's, with lows in the high 30's to low 40's.

It seems to be cooling a bit earlier than normal this fall?

Well guys the Fall fishing is really starting to heat up with the changing of the leaves and the cooling water temps.

I went up to one of our muskie portage lakes sunday afternoon to flip over a boat and lock it for the winter. I brought a rod, just to make a few casts to see if anything was happening.

It's a 25 minute ride to the lake from camp and we left camp at 3:30pm and returned at about 7:30pm.

Needless to say the muskies were biting. We boated 4 muskies, had 6 others blow up on the bait, and had 3 more follows. And this all happened in about 3 hours of fishing.

I don't know if this was a normal experiance or not, this was the first time I have ever fished on this lake, so I guess it was a good first day.

I look forward to next year trying this lake a little earlier in the season.

Email me at campmanitou@hotmail.com I have a question for you regarding your land. Does your land touch bear lake?

Well as the fishing season winds down, it's time to go get all our portage motors from our portage lakes.

I happen to bring a rod to one of our good northern lakes Saturday afternoon and its a good thing I did. We stopped at 2 good weedbeds and pulled a couple small pike out, but we also picked up 3 nice ones. We boated a 38", 40", and 42" all within and hour.

The 38" and the 42" were on back to back casts!

Remeber when you are planning your trip for next year, don't forget about the late fall. The fishing is fantastic.
