that thing is cool looking. I saw one simalar to that in a bait store in Wisconsin and I think it was in Hayward that was quite a few years ago and I wasnt sure what it was.

I see those for sale on-line from time to time. I don't know how well they work though. As many of them that are out there you would think they work? Pretty cool though!!

They still make these. One company calls them the
Douglas Net Spring Action Gaff

I don't know if they are legal or not for inland waters. I do know the regs state they are not legal on SD/MN border waters and on the Rainy River Canada/MN border waters. • A person cannot possess or use a gaff while fishing on the Rainy River.
2008 Fishing Regs page 45 • It is unlawful to possess a spear, spring gaff, or bow and arrow on or adjacent to any body of water where the spearing and archery season is closed.
2008 Fishing Regs page 49 The bottom line is this thing is a spring gaff not a spear. So is it legal to "spear" with a gaff? I am not sure.
