Went to one of my better spots today and found a large pile of 12-15 suckers, (all 1 lb to 3 lbs.), a couple of carp,(biggest being around 15 lbs.) and a number of bullheads stacked on shore right where we fish. Was pretty nasty!!! Had to eradicate the fish and still cut it short. The smell & flies never went anywhere. I hope the guy responsible reads this and realizes what he did easily wrecks it for others. I don't know, perhaps that was his plan???

I think the people just get frustered with they are catching and they don't wanna catch that kind of fish so they kill em or plannely just throw them on shore. it's gross and makes most people choke . the landing on gorman this summer had this happen and was verry stinky!!!

With the amount of hits this site gets per day. This was the first place I was gonna put it. Plus it allowed me to vent a bit.

It might have been an old timer...in the old days the rule was you couldn't return rough fish to the waters after they we caught and many did the toss on the landing. They haven't been updated with the regs. It's not an excuse, but they probably have been doing this for many years.
Posting this though, may just be read by some that really didn't realize it is now considered "wanton waste".
Most real FMrs wouldn't do this, but there just might be somebody sneaking info that will.

OK - throwing fish on the shore is not good - but do you actually want to return a carp - especially in some of these lakes which are already in rough enough shape, without the agitation of a billion and a half bottom sucking rough fish?

Just curious...

What good is throwing 6 carp on the shore of a lake that has 1.5 billion in it? Other than fertilize the shoreline with a beautiful aroma? I think that's one of the reason's they changed the law.

Ude If ya remember the rules back then also stated you could'nt leave them on shore, although many did!
Guess they would obey the law & not return them, but who wanted those invaders!

I'm not going to argue against those that keep and dispose of rough fish in a "proper" manner (i.e. - use as fertilizer for the garden, etc), but I do agree with PDOGG. The impact or effectiveness of discarding a few rough fish on shore will have little to no impact on these lakes except to create a "beautiful aroma".

Just curious.... What does the DNR do with the tons of carp thay DO take from these lakes? Could they take more? I wonder if it is a time/manpower deal or not able to get rid of more??
Just wondering. L2f

Believe it or not people sell them commercially for one reason or another! I heard on the east coast the put them in ponds and fish them for fun they have contest's and stuff! Go figure!

I could be wrong, but I believe carp is a treat/dish over in the Asian countries. We've had the lake here in town seined a few times for them. The guy came up with some huge pike too.....but that was years and years ago.
