My father-in-law and I have been talking for 15 years about making a fall run to Park Rapids after harvest. Still have not done it, but I am bound and determined to make it happen this fall.

Is mid-October too late or would coming up earlier be wise? We'd probably fish on Bottle Lake, since that's where we go on our vacation every July.

Any insight appreciated!!

If you can put up with fishing in possibly cold conditions, Mid-October can be the absolute best time. Looks like there is a full moon landing on the 14th. Could be a magic time to pull some plugs at night in the shallows. I'm trying to work in a trip up to the cabin in Alexandria around then but with harvest myself, start of the rut, pheasants, etc. I don't know if I'll have time.

Why is Oct. not 3 month's long?!?!?!?!?!?!

It's true, mid-October can be fantastic! The weather as of late hasn't been too bad, aside from the sporadic rain showers we've been having.

Fall fishing.... muskies and smallies and big walleyes oh my!

Fall fishing is the best. Dress warm and bring loads of coffee. We have had over 6" of rain in the last week but things cleared off last night with the full moon and the forecast looks great for the rest of the week.

Good Luck!

I think that the 6-inches of rain is going to impact fishing dramatically...so I'm gonna change my fishing tactics and go to an area that hasn't had that much rain ...Minnetonka!!
