its pretty tough to find em with all the backwater ponds I have hunted it later in the year when the sloughs freeze with little success, try floating it from courtland to kato and you will find that thier are not to many birds on it.

better have some power behind your boat if your hunting swan this year has been low the last couple years out thier. I have a go devil and sometimes wonder if I'm gonna make it. that thing blows my mind on what it can go thru

I grew up in Belle Plaine and we hunted the Minnesota pretty often.

We did alot of backwater hunting but when things slowed down after the first couple of weeks we would float the river.
We dressed the boat up to look like on be brush pile and would jump shoot the ducks as we went down stream.
I was always suprised at the number of ducks up on the shore and also up on the brush piles. I also was suprised by the lack of other hunters we saw. We did get some pretty funny looks as we would float by the hunters we did see.

I always park my bass boat on the west side of the pond in the reeds . slop some mud on the sides to keep the sparkles from scaring the geese. I'm heading out there tomorow so if anyone wants to tag along? just e-mail me. justkiddinglol@yahoo.com

if I could be included in this deal that would be fun, locking up a couple great spots on swan can really increase your bag. zimmerman_dan_c@yahoo.com
