I am losing bottom reading too often. Unit will search for long period, usually going from shallow to deep, and often will then show depth of 1000+ ft. Transducer problem? setting? HELP! Thanks

Are you sure this isn't a Lowrance unit? This forum is bursting of posts related to them doing that.

My Garmins never give me grief. How old is yours?

The way it sounds there isn't a decent graph out there I have had the same problems with my 520 Lowrance still not right.

It is about 10 years old. Just started having this problem this year. Maybe it needs to be retired?
