No. I would rather we had spent the $863 billion to date rooting out AlQaeda and capturing Bin Laden and those responsible for the 9/11 attacks instead of flim flammed into the rat hole that is Iraq.

I dont agree that it's empty headed, but I respect your opinion. However, this is precisely the attitude I DO want in our next president.

I can't speak for anyone else but I take a very similar attitude with my kids, and it's working so far. I'm not their friend, I'm their father. Big difference there and we have a very healthy family life.

I think you misread my words, & I halfway agree with you. My kids ARE my friends & I hope they always will be - but they know who's in charge. There's a big difference in ruling by fear & ruling by being there for them until they need a good swift kick in the butt (metaphorically...sometimes. smile )

So the Messiah believes "the surge" worked and now the disciples disagree.

LMITOUT, I know that's a foreign concept to Repulicans - disagreeing with the party line/nominee, but it's common amongst the we-think-for-ourselves party.

BigTom, I'm not sure why this concept is so hard to understand. Maybe becuase it's both correct, logical, & precisely what the Bushies didn't do?

Yep and until the apologists and proponents of the current President as "great" get their minds around this single simple point, they will never understand the dissatisfaction by many, whether Conservative or Liberal, with his leadership and the view that Senator McCain's pursuit of the same strategy in the same place has the same result.

The U.S. will always be in Iraq.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we spending money on that as well?

I think the US will always be in the middle east. At least until their mind sets can get out of the stone age. blush

weapons of mass destruction- we know he's got them, we know where they are....I believe we'll be greeted as liberaters....this war will be paid for largely through Iraqi oil revenues....a few days, a few weeks, I doubt a few months....mission accomplished....a few dead enders....last thros...cowards cut and run, stay the course...new way forward......
So now-The surge is working. Maybe so. Pardon my skepticism.

Tonight I watched 60 Minutes.

Bob Woodward was interviewed. He claims that the military has a secret tactic or weapon of some sort. It is top secret. It is the reason the surge as worked. He could not say what it was.

He also talked about dealing with the president. The firing of Rummy, which Cheney was against. The removal of Casey at Cent Com.

The promotion of General Petraeus. Very interesting

I watched that too. It was pretty interesting. I was really suprised to hear him say that at one point the Joint Chiefs thought the U.S. was losing the war.
