GOOD!

WAYYYYY too many guys out there ice fishing the last couple years keeping every potato-chip sized sunnie they caught. This lake is one I would consider to be "over-pressured" and should absolutely have special regs.

I'm in favor of it. I fished this lake for the very first time this past winter and caught lot's of dandy sunnies and some just too small crappies (all released). I plan to make annual runs to this lake now, but it would be even better if the size of fish could be improved.

I am glad they did that. They should do it for more lakes. I think they should have a couple of lakes that are strickly catch and release in all areas. That way people can't keep every fish they catch.

There will be an open house for the new regulation proposal for walleye and northern pike on Pearl held on Sept. 9, 7-9 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic School, 10672 County Road 8, Kimball. Please come and share your thoughts.

This is why believe in a state wide slot limit for all fish. The US (including MN) is becoming more populated. With so many differnet rules on every lake.... Who the H*LL could keep up with this kind of nonsense.

PS: I was fishing a lake i never fished before and I popped on the wrong lake with the same name. If each lake had differnet slots, how would I know.

This is getting a little ridiculous. I support a state wide slot, and possesion for all species(I don't have enough room in my boat for all these regs)

Most, of not all special regulations are posted at public access sites.
All you have to do is read the sign, if it is indeed posted.
If the regulations are not posted, it might be tough for a CO to enforce it.

the special regulations are posted at the accesses and in the fishing regulation book, lakes and the countys they are in. It is your job to know the law, ignorance is not an excuse. Its about time they did this, I wish more lakes were like this too.

A state wide slot limit is not the answer. If all lakes in the state had the same characteristics, sure, but in Minnesota this is definately not the case. Southwest Minnesota lakes are much different than Northeast Minnesota lakes when it comes to spawning, fishing pressure, water temps, etc... IMO a state-wide slot limit would do much more harm than good. If you are fishing a lake for the first time, ask the guy working at the bait shop where you got your minnows about the regs on that lake.

I agree with you on the state wide slot limit for walleyes.,but that is a sacred fish to dnr,.They ruined the spearing noe that they have one northern over thiry inches, it is kind of good in a way,but toughten up the walleye limits and put a slot on them

Well when you think about it there is already a statewide slot with one over 20". May not be the slot we'd all like but that's what it basicly is.

The DNR has some experereince with minimum slots and very little of it has turned out well. In fact it usually has had a negative impact on the size of fish in lakes where it's been used.
