I'm looking for a lake to take my 5 year old on Labor day. Just looking to get him a couple of tugs on the line. Just bought a boat, and looking to get some family time in. Thanks for any suggestions.

Folk there is a lake called Lake Ida outside Monticello. going out on the road next to the golf course that closed down. me and my Grandpa Grewe went and fished it today from 3:40pm till 7:45pm could have stayed out longer but he is a older guy kinda anxious about staying out there with out a light smile but yea ended the day with 13 sunnies had alot of little ones to but then we also had 1 pike about 25.5 inches and he had the little itty bitty one about uhhhh 13? ahhh i gave him a little 2 much credit it was about 11 frown we fished out by the east side of the lake off the boat launch. if ur willing 2 slaughter fish Lake Ida is the place that if ur kid is willing 2 smile hope u have a good time on Labor Day which ever lake you go 2. Be safe and have a heck of a time

Pulaski, Buffalo, or Granite have decent sunfish. You never know what you'll find. Good luck, glad to see someone young getting introduced to fishing.

Sorry it may be a little late, for your trip. Are you fishing from shore or do your have a boat. There several lake for boat fishing but the shore bite may take some work. I can put together a trip for you, your spouse and 5yr old.

Thanks BassMaster1...I appreciate the help...My son loves fishing up at the cabin, so we just bought a boat to have at home so we can take him out more. Now I just need to start learning the lakes around here.

Folk,

Here's another one to try. Lake Constance, just north of Walmart in Buffalo. It has a nice landing, and the panfishing is easy. Try the shoreline just to the left of the landing.

Not a problem wink im not like those other fishermen the ones that dont tell u there (SECRET SPOT) lol. i could care less if ppl know my spots because know what? im sure they already do right? i am 16 so i remember going with my Dad 2 the Root River. and having a fish off. but he is getting 2 b one of those couch bums and has lost all intrest in fishing. except for 3wks ago we went and got kicked off some guys property. he was a real [PoorWordUsage]. he was swearing and everything my 3yr old cousin was with. and he said there was 2 bulls in there that weren't very happy. and then he kept swearing and thats when my dad got [PoorWordUsage]. the guy walked up 2 his car then my dad said (o yea those 2 bulls. u mean the ones u use 2 pregnait ur wife with???) i was laughing so hard. but anyways back 2 the subject. my Grandpa Olson. he was my Dad's dad. he passed away 3yrs ago so that was pretty hard on me so i figured its only a period of time until the other 1 goes so i figure i spend as much time with him fishing as i could possible. did u guys do any good? what lake did u hit up?
