If they were on two seperate parties I would definitely put party lines aside, for the good of the people,(ok mostly for myself) for that kissing booth!

The censorship of a library then firing librarian because she would not remove books from library. I would be real curious to have you link us to the source of your "information" about the librarian and the alleged book banning. The stories I have read are far different from your account.

Heres the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I would be real curious to have you link us to the source of your "information" about the librarian and the alleged book banning. The stories I have read are far different from your account. By Laura McGann 9/3/08 5:00 AM ANCHORAGE — Tuesday afternoon, the Mat-Su Frontiersman, in Wasilla, hosted me in their offices so I could dig through their print archives to get a sense of Gov. Sarah Palin’s tenure as mayor there. I photocopied one story, from December 1996, about Palin’s run-in with Wasilla’s director of libraries, Mary Ellen Emmons. The article is in line with what several commenters mentioned here a few days ago. Emmons says that in October and December, 1996, the year Palin took office, the new mayor asked her if she would tolerate censorship of library books. According to the article, Palin’s response to the accusation was to say that the discussions were “in the context of a professional question being asked in regards to library policy.” The next month Palin left a letter on Emmons desk asking her to resign. It said, ”I do not feel I have your full support in my efforts to govern the city of Wasilla. Therefore I intend to terminate your employment ….” The Anchorage Daily News reported at the time, as did the Frontiersman, that the conflict was over whether to restructure the local library and museum operations. After some discussions, Palin seems to have decided Emmons was willing to toe the line. She kept her job as library director.

So, it appears that no books were banned.
The librarian kept her job.
In another news account, we discover that the librarian stayed in Wasilla until 1999, when she resigned to take a different librarian position.
Hey Croix - - where are you? Allergic to facts, or just have a strong case of the "spins"???
The fun continues, and the harder the hard left spins, the stronger the backlash becomes.
Oh, and Ms. Palin has an interview with ABC News (not exactly a right-wing shill) coming up shortly.
So much for ducking media interviews!!

The article I read said different. I admit the article was not accurate. Then more accurate articles came out to give further light on the subject. It still does not discount the fact Palin asked to remove books from the library using her position as mayor she even talked of firing her then backed down. To me that is censorship. And did I say books were band. Nope.
Talk about, spin you didn't offer that up did you.
I'll even put more spin on it after working under harsh conditions the librarian chose to relocate.
And if you fully want to disclose what I said in addition to that what I also said if Palin does do an interview the interview won't be on her issues but on chearing for McCain and attacking Obama. I would be extremely happy if she lets us know more about her stances, and prove me wrong, rather than general referrals to this and that.

As an ardent reader & writer, I think it is as un-American as you can get to attempt to threaten a librarian with firing if she doesn't do your bidding in getting rid of books you might find "objectionable". Since Palin never came out & said "I want these gone" & handed her a list, there's obviously no proof of what she wanted gone. But asking if she can censor; then threatening her livelihood; that is wrong, wrong, & wronger. That's no spin. I find that chilling & horrifying. Banning books belongs in different countries & in difference eras.

Your making presumptions on her action without knowing what kind of books they were. I could see uproar if it were Dr. Suess. How do we know it wasn't "Sex" by madonna or something? She's is an elected public figure so therefore makes decisions based upon her duties as an ELECTED official. You lefties always take a situation and run with it without knowing all of the facts. Would you want your children attending a local library if they could get their curious hands on anything?? I wouldn't.
