no leader needed... Unless you are fishing pike.. in which case, yes, you would want a leader.

I agree with the P-Line Floroice. I have it on all 10 of my ice reels and have been very happy with its performance.

I use Fluroclear, I think its the same as Fluroice but it is tons cheaper, as you can buy it in larger spools. I never use a leader with it as the line is crystal clear out of the box. I sometimes use Fluroclear as a leader for other lines.

I went to P-Line 2 years ago on all my ice rods and I will never look back... I love this stuff.
