1st time poster. I'm going to a friends place on the weekend of the 5th. They don't fish and I'm looking for any suggestions on where to start the search. I've heard this lake is very tricky. I'm not looking for specific spots just a general idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My email is hem21678@yahoo if anyone is willing to share. Thanks

yeah, its real clear. Walleys are most often a night time game. Plenty of sunfish and bass to keep you interested though. Nice crappies but they can be tough to find.

Plenty of fish to be caught on Wabana during daylight hours. Find some weedbeds and cast small jigs and minnows into them. You will catch a pile of bass trying to catch walleyes. Good Luck

Yup, we caught a bunch of bass while looking for walleyes Saturday night----ROCK BASS!!! At least 25 of them. This was my first time fishing Wabana, and 2 of us went out after dark. No moon, and this is one spooky lake after dark. We didn't have a real bright light so finding the southern access without a gps was a real challenge. I think I need to get to know this lake during the day before I fish it at night again.

I like to anchor up on a mid-lake hump in the evening and slip bobber fish with leeches. You never know what you're going to pull up. Last summer we had a night where we caught, walleye, northern, lm bass, sm bass, rockbass, bluegills, green sunfish, and perch. What's also nice is there's some nice sized bass, walleyes, and northerns in there so there's always a good chance of hooking into something decent. That south landing can be tricky w/o the GPS!

I hit Wabana for a couple hours today, 12-4pm. Started out the trip by whacking my prop on some ##!!ing rocks. I found out my Lakemaster chip is off on Wabana the hard way!!! I still fished after that episode and lost a big walleye, 7-8 lbs? right at the boat. I continued with the heavy lindy rig/sucker combo and caught a piggy smallie in 4lb range. I was disappointed that no big gators found their way to the boat. I then switched gears and tried a jig and gulp minnow 15-20fow and caught bluegills, rockbass, smallies, and largies. Looks like the bass are really putting the feed bag on!!! Brian

I don't have GPS and was coming back across the lake to the south access on Sunday and almost nailed rocks on the underwater hump just outside the cove for the access. That lake is spooky cause it will go from 35 fow to 2 fow in an instant. I was out there once last year with a guy who lived on the lake and he did warn me about some spots but I forgot until I saw the bottom come flying up on the locator.

Yeah, my girlfriends family has a cabin on that lake and I couldn't believe it the first time I was on it. I thought some of those reefs would be marked with bouys but they aren't. I though of milk jugging them myself, but opted not to. It can be a real pain. Luckily I have it figured out so I can go full tilt and weave the reefs. I marked all the reefs on the GPS. Lakemaster was worthless on the lake. It only has about 1/3 of the real doosies marked.

69 degrees yesterday. My kids will be here for the weekend, so you may see us out there Saturday afternoon. If so, we'll be in a black/silver new Lund Rebel XL SS w/ a 75 hp Merc. Good luck out there!
