Fished Spring on Thursday a.m.

Caught a few nice crappies early when the wind was up. Wind died down and so did the fish.

Tried for walleyes - nothing.

Best bet - crappies by the rocks 8 - 11 feet of water.

I've been hearing crappie reports only. Seems they've been biting early in the morning

Didn't measure them - but I had two that were much larger than what I've caught out there in the past. Actually had both of them in the live well - but decided to throw back after it completely shut down. They weren't huge - but nice for Spring.

I seen on the lakefinder that white bass have been surveyed in both prior and spring (I think only 1 fish each though). Is there a small population of them in these lakes or probably just transplants from the nearby MN river?

I caught a nice sized, 17", white bass on Prior last year during my club outting. Was a huge surprise to me, and I can't say I've heard of anyone else boating one. Most the guys at the landing didn't believe me anyways! lol.

We landed one on Prior during the walleye opener this spring. Definatley a shocker when we pulled that out of the water.

I caught one on Spring lake this spring also. Just 1 mix in with eyes and crappies. About 12-13".

Hmmm...perhaps they're becoming established? Spring and prior are connected, correct? Are they connected at all to the river? If they are, you'd think the lake would be more likely to host sheephead, buffalo, and/or shad as opposed to silvers.

I believe the white bass were actually stocked long ago, (so I've heard) I've caught a couple out there big ones too pushing 17 inches.
