I agree. They are only hurting their own cause. You need the independents to win elections.

I find it amusing that they want access to the RNC delegates. Like they are going to get the party faithful to change their view on something.

Ummmmm, did anyone see the arrests made of some of these RNC protestors? They had buckets of urine, handguns, bow and arrows, bent up metal objects that resemble throwing stars but probably used for puncturing tires or feet, baseball bats, huge 4'x8' maps of the downtown area, bricks, etc. Unreal.

Incase they got a little thirsty? confused crazy

I don't have a problem with people protesting if they were to do it in a civilized manner(it is their Constitutional right) but these nut jobs were way out of line.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) -- Police raided a rental hall used by a group organizing protests at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Friday.

Police on Friday raid the hall rented by a group planning to protest the Republican National Convention.

The RNC Welcoming Committee, which describes itself as "anarchist/anti-authoritarian," accused St. Paul police of trying to disrupt their protest planned for Monday, the day the GOP convention is set to begin.
Although no one was arrested, the group said police temporarily detained and photographed at least 50 people who were inside the building.
St. Paul Police spokesman Tom Walsh said they were executing a search warrant.
"The cause for the search warrant is not public at this time," Walsh said.
As many as 30 police officers entered with guns drawn, according to witnesses in the building
"The convergence center is simply a gathering place and is not used for illegal actions -- it is a place for workshops and trainings," a statement from the protest group said. "Tonight, we were watching films and sharing food.
"We are now accused of a simple fire code violation," the statement said.

Oddie Miller, a 19-year-old from Fort Collins, Colorado, said it was "just a space to get food, free Internet, community organization."
"There were no bombs or anything in there," Miller said.

I also heard on Am1500 today that many where children and elderly who where detained.

Dozens Detained Ahead of Convention

ST. PAUL, Minn. — On the weekend before the Republican National Convention, law enforcement agencies detained dozens of people and issued a series of search warrants aimed at groups believed to be organizing demonstrations while delegates and Republican officials

On Friday night the Ramsey County sheriff's department, accompanied by the St. Paul police, detained people inside a building here that was being used as a headquarters to plan protests.
“They handcuffed all of us,” said Sonia Silbert, 28, from Washington. “They searched everyone.”
People who had been in the building said that officers entered shortly after 8:30 p.m. with a warrant and instructed them to lie on the ground, adding that they had been questioned and photographed before being released.
Jordan Kushner, a member of the National Lawyers Guild, said the two-story brick building had been rented by a nonprofit organization and was being used by several groups planning protests.
People who had been inside said teach-ins and legal training had been conducted there, and that the space was also a repository for such items as computers and bicycles.
The R.N.C. Welcoming Committee, a group that has said it wants to block roads during the convention, issued a statement Friday night that was read aloud outside the meeting place by a woman who identified herself as Sarah Coffey.
Ms. Coffey said that the officers, citing fire violations as the reason for their visit, “detained over 50 people in an attempt to pre-empt planned protests.”
The sheriff's department continued the sweeps on Saturday morning, executing warrants for three houses in Minneapolis and two in St. Paul, detaining more than 50 people and arresting 4.
A copy of a warrant at one house said the police were authorized to look for a laundry list of items, including fire bombs, Molotov cocktails, brake fluid, photographs and maps of St. Paul, paint, computers and camera equipment, and documents and other communications.
Residents of the houses where the warrants were served denied having any unlawful or dangerous materials.
Attorneys for the National Lawyers Guild said the people who were detained and photographed included local residents as well as visitors in town to demonstrate at the convention.
Bruce Nestor, a lawyer at one house, said three people there were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit a riot.
“In my mind it's a classic preventive detention charge,” Mr. Nestor said.
He said the authorities were permitted to hold those they arrested without charging them for up to 36 hours -- excluding weekends or holidays -- in essence detaining them for the length of the convention.
On Saturday morning the father of one woman who was arrested said he was outraged.
“There is no cause for this,” said Dave Bilking, whose daughter, Monica Bilking, a 23-year-old student, had been removed in handcuffs.
The sheriff's department did not respond to a phone message requesting comment

Ya, they were all "innocent" people who were brought down by the "man" and his brute force.

Did you see what they had in those houses. They had spikes to flatten car tires, sling shots, and large buckets of urine, ect.... Bring on the raids!

I think you should be able to protest, just do it like grown adults! crazy

Sorry, that comment only pertained to The RNC Welcoming Committee HQ, not the houses that where raided. I never heard any thing about the houses that where radied on Am1500. Just from the New York Times.

Both of your stories included the RNC Welcoming Committee. I assumed that is what you were talking about.

The other raid was conducted on a group that films how law enforcement handles the protests. I am sure they are innocent to as some of them were charged with inciting a riot. They detained 5 adults, according to local media. I don't really care what group they are with. Why not go out and protest peacefully? Because you will not see yourself on the news saying "look at me, look at me!". If you are going to act like children then you will be treated like children and put in the corner for a timeout. grin

There have been at least 1/2 dozen raids and you've only posted the news on one.

The sheriff's office said it confiscated weapons on Saturday including a machete, hatchet and several throwing knives, empty glass bottles, rags and flammable liquids, homemade devices used to disable buses, metal pipes, axes, bolt cutters, sledge hammers, empty plastic buckets made into shields, an Army helmet, and large amounts of urine.

Protesters said deputies also seized materials including laptops, protest literature and sign-making materials, bus schedules and a topographical map of St. Paul, site of Xcel Energy Center, the convention hall.

Sorry, I thought my second post went further than just one, but had no mention of this;

You asked and I went looking last night. At that time and where I was looking I could not find any info like you had posted. I seen you have found some.

I hope this convention can be pulled off smoothly and some of the bad apples have been rooted out. Sounds like the boys down town have their ears to the ground and if anything it helps the honest Americans exercising their conational right during their protests.

Thanks

I don't blame you for not being able to find much. The left wing drive-by media hates to shine a bright light on their own kind.
