I can tell you one thing, Johnson Outdoors has made the 3 companies the top brands I like. Their customer service is fenomenal, their products have no equals.
I proudly own 2 of the 3 brands and I will own the 3rd one soon (Humminbird).

I have nothing bad to say about Humminbird, only good.

I always thought these gps units were not accurate on purpose because the government didn't want them to be because of security reasons. I haven't heard of any rule changes if there was any before but if the rules had been changed to allow better accuracy I would wait till after jan 1st before purchasing the upgrade to see if the existing gps handles the change if any to be had. I know what I'm saying is all speculative for me I would play it on the safe side.

The Selective Availability rules for civilian GPS unit accuracy were waived some 8 years ago.

Alright! Let's give Lowrance a run for a while. I think they have way to much market share.

I agree. when my lowrance went down I was seriously looking at Hummingbird. I like the features they have and hardly ever hear problems from them so they were in the running. But I went a differant route and went with a Garmin through one of our sponsers "ProFishingSupply".

Yup. Humminbird & Garmin are both on my drooling list for next year's Sport Show outing. It will be a tough choice between the two.

So Blue your saying I will be able to upgrade my HB 997 to a more accurate form of GPS? That would be real sweet when marking a School of crappies on the Side image 150ft away and go right to them. I like that idea!!!!! HTB
