Anyone? If she thinks it is as easy as being the Gov. of a state where if you get 100,000 votes you win, she is in for a rude awakening.

That's a pretty big jump to 304 million people.

What makes Obama a better option? Second, how many times in the last 8 years have you heard about Cheney dealing with foreign affairs? A VP does very little in the grand scheme of things.

Palin should be pitted against Biden, and Obama against McCain for the purposes of real comparisons.

I agree NTW - I almost like the fact that she is not too experienced - It really gives a fresh look to things - she almost as common as I am (other than being Governor and all)

I'm sorry, isn't she a VP candidate? That is not CIC. Dems like to bring out McCain's age as an issue. Let's just ask how many 70 year olds think they are going to die in the next 4 years.

What has Obama done to get any experience running the country? Wait, he only has 3 years experience against how many years for McCain? McCain can sit down and answer any political question you give him on his own, Obama needs to have somebody tell him the answer he should give.

C'mon Big Tom - you can do better than that!

Seriously, read her entire Wikipedia bio, Google some of the news stories out of Alaska about her exploits in rooting out corruption.

Pretty impressive.
Sure aint she the one who fired a state official who would'nt fire her sisters ex who is a state trooper. HAHAHAHA
No favoritism there. McCain's done!HaHaHa

Ain't that the truth!! Jesse Ventura liked to use that one, but I don't remember starring in movies and wrestling in front of TV cameras.

Without reading through the entire thread I have to admit I love his choice for VP.

I think it greatly boosts the chance for Obama to win.

When you are as old as McCain is and after 4 fights with cancer it might have been wise to pick someone who has more then 2 years of expereince in politics. Just becuase she can hunt and fish doesn't mean squat. The republicans will never raise money for the outdoors and environment, thats never been their platform. If you guys think Palin as VP will improve your hunting or fishing you will be disappointed. She may help protect your rights to own your gun but in reality the only ownership that is being threatened is if you are using an AK-47 to take down your deer this fall. If you aren't into high powered assult rifles I think you'll be ok.

T-Paw would have been a much smarter choice in my opinion, but then as a Obama supporter I'm glad T-Paw didn't get selected.

She's actually the ONLY one of the 4 to have an administrative job and actually be part of the government.
This is a great day, I feel very good about the next election.

I have never been involved in politics much but this gets me pumped.

Beside I cannot stand the possibility to have a president name with just 1 letter difference from the #1 enemy of this country.

I am only disappointed since I just bought some stickers that says McCain only.

How about the whole story and not the little tidbit's that get thrown around? I find it hard to believe McCain wouldn't have checked this out prior to naming her.

From Wiki: Governor Palin is currently under investigation by an independent investigator hired by the legislature to determine if she abused her power when firing Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. On July 11, 2008, Palin dismissed Walter Monegan as Commissioner of Public Safety and instead offered him a position as executive director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which he subsequently turned down. Her power to fire him is not in dispute, however, Monegan alleged that his dismissal may have been an abuse of power tied to his reluctance to fire Palin's former ex-brother-in law, an Alaska State Trooper, Mike Wooten, who had been involved in a divorce and child custody battle with Palin's sister, Molly McCann. In 2006, before Palin was governor, Wooten was briefly suspended for ten days for threatening to kill McCann's (and Palin's) father, tasering his 11-year-old stepson (at the stepson's request), and violating game laws. After a union protest, the suspension was reduced to five days.
Palin replaced Monegan with Chuck Kopp, who had previously been removed from supervision of an employee he had allegedly sexually harassed. Palin knew of Kopp's alleged sexual harassment before she appointed Kopp.
Palin said that her dismissal of Monegan was unrelated to the fact that he had not fired Wooten, and said that Monegan was instead dismissed for not adequately filling state trooper vacancies, and because he "did not turn out to be a team player on budgeting issues." Monegan claims that the two most-recent trooper graduating classes had the most recruits in years, and that Palin stated the audit Monegan provided made the administration look like it did not support the troopers. Palin acknowledged that a member of her administration, Frank Bailey, did contact the Department of Public Safety regarding Wooten, but both Palin and Bailey say that happened without her knowledge and was unrelated to her dismissal of Monegan. Bailey was put on leave for two months for acting outside the scope of his authority as the Director of Boards and Commissions. Commissioner Monegan received no severance pay, though at the same time another dismissed Commissioner, Charles Kopp (who served only 11 days) received $10,000.
In response to Palin's statement that she had nothing to hide, in August 2008 the Alaska Legislature hired Steve Branchflower to investigate Palin and her staff for possible abuse of power surrounding the dismissal. The investigation is being overseen by Democratic State Senator Hollis French, who is overseeing the investigation, says that the Palin administration has been cooperating and that subpoenas are unnecessary.[58] The Palin administration itself was the first to release an audiotape of Bailey making inquiries about the status of the Wooten investigation.

Exactly. These VP candidates get vetted pretty well. I think they know how to deal with this issue.

You can usually tell the strength of a candidate by how strong the reaction is by the opposition.

I think Palin could be formidable.

I'm surprised at the McCain campaign. I'm not a huge fan of his - but I have to admit that he's run one smart campaign so far. On top of the news cycle and a good counter puncher.

If McCain really wants to nail down the Clinton/woman vote, what he needs to do know is sleep w/ Ms Palin.

OK let me get this straight. The "big scandal" revolves around some clown who was briefly suspended for ten days for threatening to kill McCann's (and Palin's) father, tasering his 11-year-old stepson (at the stepson's request), and violating game laws and she's the bad guy?

He SHOULD have been fired!

That is laughable and desperate.

McCain Hits a Grand Slam for Outdoorspeoples!!

Palin is a nutcase plain and simple. She believes in creationism(lol); Shes anti-choice; there is a mountain of corruption in her background(do the digging yourself); SHE's A BUSH/MCAIN SUPPORTER. She makes the republican ticket even more of a laughing stock than it already was. If you people want to throw your support behind a person like that, more power to ya', but good luck to you in the next thirty years.

Shes a perfect VP candidate for "grandpa".

Thank you FM.com, your political forum is rapidly becoming one of my favorite stops for comedy.

You're right, 3 years is way better (and the last one has been spent campaigning) than the 30 years of McCain!! But, at least you'll good about it.
