I am currently trying to decide who I want to use for high speed internet in duluth. I dont need cable or phone or anything else just internet. I wasn't too happy with the service I received with my last company, so I'd like to try somewhere new. Any suggestions? Thanks

We first had our HS through the phone company when we moved to Superior but were happier with the speed and service when we switched to a cable modem through Charter. Unfortunately for you, it generally costs more to subscribe to HS service as a standalone compared to when it's bundled with phone or cable service.

We had great luck with Charter as far as service went, too.

Check out Clear Wire. A friend of mine had it a few years ago and seemed to like it.

We now have century tel and so far so good. Got sick of poor service and rising costs with charter. Only got decent pricing offers when they found out we were serious about leaving them. Now we have nothing with them at all.

GottaGo,
I have had Clearwire for the last month or so and it seems to be working great. It all depends where you're located. You can e-mail me at the address below and I will let you know what companay I went through to get my clearwire service.

The only way to go with charter is to sign up with them on some sort of promotion. Then when the promotion is up call them up and tell them you're going to leave them as Northlander suggested above. They will negotiate and you can get a good deal. Awful way to have to do business but it works and the internet they provide is the best around.

grousehunterMN,

Welcome to the site and thanks for posting on this topic. I'm not in the same boat as you when it comes to Charter. They were more then happy to raise my price by around $40.00 bucks a month when my bundle promotion was up. Long story short I no longer have Charter.

I decided to go with clearwire. After charter lost my payment 2 months in a row and having to spend countless hours on the phone with their poor customer service, I couldn't take it anymore. Hopefully clearwire is better, so far it seems good.

Yea I certainly won't speak to their customer service. I think you'll be just fine with Clearwire. One nice thing about them is that you can take your modem anywhere and plug it in. Thanks for the welcoming party BD110!
