At first blush I think this was an excellent choice. Obviously we're only an hour into it so more may surface to change my opinion, but for now it looks good!

Any other reasons besides she is a Republican? Cuz we knew you'd think it was an excellent choice even if it was Helen Chenoweth or Bob Packwood.

Please enlighten us.

i think the obamaites are starting to get a little overconfident. i keep hearing how mCain will have to defend voting for bush 95% of the time and that is true but obama's record in the Ill. state senate and more of his past ties will have to be answered for. trying to take commercials off the air that hurt him wont cut it.

oh, and i hear, "kerry didnt fight." if i had a dime for every excuse i have heard to explain why the democrat candidate lost i would be able to afford 6 houses

Here is all you need to know about her from Wikipedia:

Details of Palin's personal life have contributed to her political image. She hunts, eats moose hamburger, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, and owns a float plane.[12][55] Palin holds a lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association. She admits that she used marijuana when it was legal in Alaska, but says that she did not like it.[9]

God fordid anything happening to McCain if he gets into office.
There is no way this gall can fill the shoes of a president.

I didn't know there were Cougars in Alaska. Wow. I certainly would not kick her out of bed for eating crackers.

I think it is an easy way for McCain to eliminate the "first black president" with a "first woman VP", as well as helps offset the experience thing. Both arguements become null and void now. Also puts her on the short list in 4 years.

I personally would love to see a Woman President (other the Hillary). Men have been screwing it up for years, let the women have their chance. And from what I have heard, she has many different stances the Johhny Mac, so she may give him a better voter base. I am patiently waiting to hear more about her. I think women have a more diverse thought process then us stupid men, and may have some good ideas, if she does not get pulled into the political rut.

And just for a little humor, if anyone remembers the old SNL skit, "Can a black man ever get elected president......Yes, if he runs against a Mexican."

Not legal in Chicago as far as I know and Obama toked it up too if that was an attempt to smear Palin.

So far it looks like she has everything going for her. Strong mother of five with the oldest in Iraq right now, NRA member to get the gun folks interested, both her and husband are union members which may perk interest in the union camp, served on various energy commissions/committees for the people who are interested in energy and drilling for oil (that would be 75% of the public, by the way). Seems like a home run covering much of the heartland of America's interests and concerns.

This is an amazing election. History will be made this go-a-round.

We will put either a female or a minority in to the executive branch of government. Debate all you want on the merits of any person, but do not loose sight of the history we will be making.
