i have a friend who is on the outs with his wife; he and i are planning on fishing all weekend so he doesnt have to be around her; he wants to fish the willmar area but neither of us have very much experience with any of the area lakes; what lakes would be a good bet for some decent multi species action this time of year? dont really care what we catch; other than small panfish (i know where i can catch those). are the small mouth and northerns active right now in general? can good fishing be had during the day, or should we concentrate on mornings/evenings? really appreciate any help; just a pointer in the right direction and we can find our way from there!

Your best is probably Green,Most other lakes are off & on right now,Here on Diamond I havent been catchin much, the other day I thought they were startin 3 eyes and 6 nice sunnies in 2 1/2 hrs, since then no luck once again. Some cooler weather should get em goin,Maybe this rain? I'll be out tomorrow again.

green is pretty much what i was thinking; its the only lake in that area i have fished this summer. i dont have a huge variety of plugs to pull; what types of live bait options should we consider this time of year?

Leeches & crawlers on lindy or maybe spinner outside the weed lines. Havn't used any minnows yet but should be soon.

Don't worry about not having enough plugs we can take of that for you JK. Good luck fishing...this weather change and rain should help. J.
