got out this morning and only picked up a couple small LM Bass, throwing plastics so that's probably all I would have picked up.

Fishing the west side - will head out again this evening - any suggestions? Looking for smallies and northern/muskie.

Where are you staying. I can clue you in on some spots if you let me know. LM fishing should be excellent right now, and northerns as well. Smallies should be excellent in the AM on top.

White Eagle is where I'm staying - I've been out as far as the stove top and twin island - Got out aroud 6:30am and caught 16 LM off a rocky point bfore they slowed down around 10am The only thing they were hitting on consistently were redshad power worms TX rigged although I did catch one on a white spinner bait and one on a little jake walleye color and couple carolina rigged with centipedes.

srode,
take that white spinnerbait up to the Wakemup narrows area (past Stove Top reef) and fish weedy bays like Indian/Larsons/Muskego if you want to catch pike.

Thanks, I found them this morning off Indian Island and in Indian and Muskego bays. Had a nice one explode on a topraider, it was a nice fighter.

Glad that worked for you srode..... and since your handle says "catch and release", I know you put some back. Keep catching them, and hope you get a musky. Even though I love northerns but hate muskies!

I always release - if I want to eat fish, I'll go to town and order some for dinner! smile Now I just need to find some smallies.

What cabin did you stay in when you were here at White Eagle
Der vasservolf? My only regret so far is I wish we had booked 2 weeks!

srode - I was in Kingfisher this year. For smallies, try rocks and docks around Treasure Island area, and different points, rocks and docks in Head of Lakes Bay area. If you go up rivers or are too close to weedy bays, it's all largemouth though. Senko worm rigged wacky style - let her drop, give a small twitch if needed, and hang on.

Hey, Same cabin we are in this week. Mike told me the folks that were in the cabin last week caught some very nice northerns. I'll try out Treasure Island next time I take a run to wakemup narrows.

Plenty of good bass fishing near you. Fish the docks and surrounding area just down from White Eagle around the old Red Loon. The small bays near Perhson Lodge are full of bass. As already mentioned, go up river and fish docks and laydowns. The row of docks in Muskego is very good. Go through the markers just past Treasure Island. Smallmouth will be around the submerged points that the red and green cans mark, then move in behind the small island. Also work the docks throughout the area going all the way to Wake-em up. Hard to beat a Senko this time of year around docks. I do like a jig/pig though. Spinnerbait will catch Pike all day long. If you have some gas $$$$ burning a hole in your pocket, go into the Oak narrows and fish everything, it is loaded with fish.
Tell Mike, Doug in Arkansas says hi.

had a Musky on the line today but it rolled in weeds and got off - nice pointy caudal fins - looked like a clear pattern from what I could see, not big not not small either. Caught a bunch of nice Northern and had a huge one follow but wouldn't take it. Lots of bass including some a couple small ones on my no big arss thumpin northern spinner bait. I sure don't know what those little bass were thinking - no way could they get inhale that spinner! Good day fishing so far ... and the evening is still to come.

Didn't feel like running all the way tup to oak narrows with the wind but may tomorrow if it calms down some. I'll tell Mike you said hi when I see him again, forgot to mention it when I saw him earlier, had to move my boat for the plane to dock as we were headed out.

srode,
congrats on having a decent musky on the line. I've been up there at White Eagle the last 6 years, same time in August, and have never had a decent musky on the hook. I hate musky!

Enjoy sitting on the deck of the Kingfisher and sipping a brew. Don't quite see the stars or hear the loons out here in New York. Oh well, at least I have the White Eagle web cam to look at now.

Last day here was the best for fishing (today). Lots of wind but overcast and raining off and on - lost count of the fish but probably 25 to 30 Bass and Northerns between 9am and 1:30 when I came in. Hothing huge, but plenty of nice size fish. Was at my spot before 6am but nothing hit till 9, which is when I gave up on throwing my big baits and started working small and slow.

Gas gauge said empty at 1:30, probably had 10 - 15 gallons left but didn't want to chance getting stuck on the lake in that wind - the trolling motor wouldn't have held up against the wind from wakemup narrows back to the lodge. The blue bird skies made for tough fishing early in the week, today was a better example of what the lake is like I'm sure. Maybe if I come back next year there will be more overcast / rainy days all week.
