Reference Lakewood comment in the previous post as "pike are, well, doing what the pike on sand lake normally do:"

I had a great stay at Lakewood last September and have booked another week in September this year. Although I only caught a few small pike, am I missing something about Sand Lake?

Thanks again Lakewood for all of the great info. Hope the year has been great.

The last time I was up here, down home was getting the flood. Thats what I had to go home to after a week in heaven- straight to [PoorWordUsage]! I hope this is not going to be a trend.

Heading up again this weekend for a week and would love to have any updates on the bite. Has the weather really messed things up there like it has here? Has the panfish and walleye bites picked up yet?

Thanks again in advance for all the help. Stay safe!

Sand has quite the population of smaller pike. Check out the special regs for Sand (don't quote me but I think it is 22-36 have to go back with one over 36 allowed, posession limit 9). They are trying to thin out the small pike. I will tell you this... troll the weed edge with a spinner rig and a minnow (any kind) and you will have more than your share of pike bites. Yellow and oarnge seem to work great for pike. And the little pike really don't taste bad.

Nukem531 try in front of Edgewater resort around dusk. Troll slow in 10-12 FOW with a jig and minnow or anchor and slip bobber fish with shinners or fatheads or crappie minnows on a small jig.

Bohonk316 Thanks for the info.

I usually try that method this time of the year. I am a big crawler fan. I just hope that they are starting to hit on them. Slip bobbering with leeches comes in a close second. Has the weed edge bite started yet or still just on the humps. My go to depth is 10-12 FOW, sound familiar. You see a blue and white Crestliner give me a wave. Thanks again.

I am fishing Sand Lake in the later half of September. Not really familar with the lake but have a map. What do you recommend for some eye's and pike? Any humps in particular or just works the dropoffs and weed lines?

Sand has been a hot lake this year. we have been fishing the humps right now but by sept we should be on the deep weed edges or the rocks with a jig and minnow or a crawler and a lindy

Hey Jason thanks again for all of the info.

When we were up there the last week of July I must have been missing the Luck Bug. This was the count for the week- 5 pike, 16 walleye (mostly 8"-11"), 2 perch and 7 sunfish. Fished pretty hard on the humps, weed edges, deep inside turns on the weeds but still nothing. By the end of the week started really targeting the mini snot rockets for some fun-again nothing. Its like they had tight mouths this year. Hope that you guys had better luck and would like to hear how the pike count was for you this year.

Again Thanks Again and have a Great Year.

This cabin for sale is on the NE side of the big lake, just south of Edgewater Resort. It has 1 partitioned off bedroom and then one big open room. There is no running water or septic. Nice view but has approx 12' bank to the waters edge.
