I'd stick to Bass fishing until the bite picks up Mr. Young Angler! But if you have a walleye hankering, troll spinners w/ livebait in 17 to 25 fow.

Let us know how you do.

Welcome aboard! Walleyes are tough to catch right now at least legal size ones are but not impossible, so don't get discouraged if you have a tough time putting them in the box, a good spinner color is gold blade/ red beads, I havn't done much bottom bouncing this year with spinners but that combo seems to work, I lindy rig 90% of the time, hook color flip a coin, red, orange, yellow, gold, white, black, its more of the presentation and finding hungry fish, minnows seem to always work, crawlers have to be about the best over all bait this time of year!As far as deepth Turk covered that! If you really would like to get to know the river book a guide trip with Turk, not only will you catch fish and learn alot, he's also a great guy!

I'll second going out with Turk to learn the river. I've been out with him once this year and it was awesome. Been out with Walli a few times and that's great as well. I've learned a lot this year from these two river rats but I'm no where in their league. I can go out and get a few fish. But I'll fish next to Walli and watch him pull fish after fish. It's insane. The river is very humbling, but a great fishery. It will take time and I don't know that you ever have that place totally figured out. Though Turk and Walli are as close as I've seen to have it figured. They will get you on fish.

I to haven't been fishing the saint croix for to long. Started last year and never caught any thing. This is coming from a guy who has fished on the ocean for the better part of his life. I could stick a piece of hot dog on a hook and reel in a big one there but not here.

This river fishing business is much harder. Been going out alot this year and I'm catching some but working pretty hard to do so. Its almost like there is a science behind it and a know how. Only way to learn if from the old school river boys.

After trying a ton of stuff it seems like the simpler I keep it the better. Using crawlers and leaches on lindy rigs, 3 ways or a plain old jig seem to always produce. My trouble now is learning where the big ones are hiding.

So if any one have an suggestions on spots to try I'm all ears. I go as far south as Prescott. North , as far as the north end or the narrows. Launching out of the bluffs

Right around the bluffs are good area's. This time of year look in 30+ FOW to find them. I do lindy's a lot and other techniques you've mentions. You could try pulling cranks as well.

Just got off the river. Light bite but got 4 eyes, a saug and a couple panfish. I'm new to fishing the river also but I figure time and attention will cure that also. Been fishing for years so the concept hasn't changed, just the rules. Good Luck because there are a lot of boats heading out to make waves.
