Can I network two Humminbird GPS/Sonar units together so that both units can use one Navionics chip at the same time?

Thanks,

SimIs - no, you need to use a separate chip in each unit.

Is it practical or possible to put side imaging on the Bow Mount Trolling motor as well as the helm?

I would say no at this point. Main reason, I have not come accros a SI trolling motor ducer yet. I may have just over looked it though.

Lots of people run SI on the bow. Humminbird sells a couple SI trolling motor transducers.

There are a couple issues with TM mounted SI. A straight path of travel is required for optimal imaging, the trolling motor can't be panned left or right in most instances. Also, noise issues related to TM mounted Hummingbirds is not uncommon.

You can run a say 997c SI on the console and run a 777c or 787c (non-side imaging) on the bow. Then pick up their Interlink networking cable. You only need one Navionics chip in the console unit. You can share waypoints and the map. For example, if you're fishing on the bow and enter a waypoint, it will register on the console unit.

Just bought a 917c on sale for $709 to use on the front. They told me that Interlink would share the waypoints, but wouldn't share the chip. I'm planning on a 997c si at the helm and network it to the 917c at the bow with a Quadra transducer on the Trolling Motor. I plan on swiveling the Helm unit around if I need SI at the Trolling Motor. That probably saved me about a grand or more.

Where did you find a 917c for $709. That seems like a great price.

Walked into Bass Pro and just happened to be at the counter when the manager was changing the display. He lowered the price to $788 (was 9 something)and gave me another 10% off for being the display model. I was looking at the 787c to go with the 997c si that I ordered for the helm. I just couldn't see a reason not to go with the 917c and its huge screen for fifty more dollars. Now if my boat would only get here so I'll have something to put it on - haha!

Ya I got a steal last week. I got a 957c for under $500. Gander had only 1 left and ran it 50% off the already 30% sale. I found out the day before the sale and had them hold it. Im very happy with the unit and the cost made it a no brainer.

Sweet, sounds like I should have held out for a lower price!

The 957c has the Quadra Transducer, right? Mine only has the dual, but I can add one if I want.
