If it was left alone a long long time ago, you might not be able to use it. Now the lake has 60 feet less of weed on the shoreline and has sand. I mean, I remember when the cabins where under water on the lake, should they have left them? Change can be hard but I honestly think they did a good job there. I see many families having a picnic there and kids fishing with their parents.

I darn near grew up at Shady Birch. That was a great place on a great lake. Still wish there were more resorts like that around still!!

I was really excited to hear about this big new park opening and then I got there and took a look. What a nice park! there is one major thing that is lacking dock space for boats to park while you swim at the beach or bring your kids to the park. I have two kids and my wife and kids love to hang out at the lake, we spend a lot of time tubing skiing and swimming. Unfortunatly at Big marine you have to pull your boat out of the water if you want to go to the park or beach. I wont bring my family to this park for that reason alone. We have searched for a nice park that has this and they just are not all that common. Big marine is a beautiful park if you don't have a boat or left it at home but that is it. I am all for the development of parks such as the Big Marine park and think that the money spent on this park is small investment for our kids. The only Shame for Washington County should be for poor planning with tying together recreation on lake the with recreation in their nice new park.
