Friends,
I am bringing my 12 year old Grandaughter and her family up July 29(West End--Pehrson's). It has been a few years, but she had a blast, as we all did catching Sunnies in the evening and having a few for dinner. Seems like we fished Blacks Bay(??)--end of Partridge River. Is that still the ticket--with leeches? Needless to say, action is more important than trophies--just big enough to eat. (I chase the big stuff in the morning.)

thanks much,
Wahoo

My best luck with panfish in that area has always been a hook, bobber, and part of a worm. Let me know if the leaches work any better!

Thanks much. The leeches just stay o the hook better--small ones, or break em in half.

Didn't know if, perhaps, there had been a shift for the panfish with water levls or such so that the Bay isn't a good shot.

thanks again.

Larsons Bay is always a good place also. Have caught some bigger bluegils in Norweigan Bay too. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I'll try some of the spots during the day to make sure they have the potential to yield a few eaters and some action. I hadn't thought of Norwegian Bay, but it makes sense.

I fished around Larson's early one Spring, but not fror Panfis-- so a good thought.

I am sure we will do will, and have a good time--how can a 12 year old girl not in between the giggling as leeches or worms are put on the hook. That is what fishing is about.

Just happy to get out of the SW heat and back to Gs Country.

Last time I was in Larsons bay me and my nephew caught over 100 blugills/sunfish. Nothing in real big of size though. Norweigan on the other hand we only caught 15 and they were all very nice blugills. I dont eat them but they were not to much smaller than some of the eater crappies I caught earlier this year.

I was just out tonight on the humps between camp vermilion and center island, and they were covered with bluegills in 8 to 15 feet of water. I caught about 5 or 6 nice ones while trying to see if Walleye were around. Small leeches and bobbers with a smaller hook than I was using would probably have done real well. This was at 730 or 8 pm. But earlier probably would have been ok.

I have noticed more and more bluegills in non weed type areas the last few years
