I'm new to being a FM member so to start I just want to say hi to everyone. grin

Now I have been fishing all the reserviors around Roch. for the past 2 weeks and to be honest I am getting board with them. So does anyone have any suggestions on any different fishing places (keep gas prices in mind).

Any help would be great, thanks.

Try wading some of the local streams. Below either the Silver Lake Dam or the Lake Zumbro Dam you will find a mixed bag of potential catches. Anything from bullheads to crappie, bass, northerns or musky can hit your line. IMO there really is no better way to spend a hot afternoon than to be standing knee deep in a cool stream and reeling in a fighting smallie.

Thanks Lew, i've fished below silver lake but i'll have to give the Zumbro dam a try.

CB, I like to fish for pretty much every thing but right now i'm in the mood for bass. Also I take my grandma fishing to help her get out of the house, so any sunnie or crappie action would be awsome. TY.

Hey Stoney,

The Zumbro dam is one of the best places a guy can fish, but it costs 30 bucks to do so... It's on a campground and the guy that owns Mac's is a dink...

There are other ways to get down by macs then by going through THE MAN. Be creative and work hard. But i think the dam is one of the best fisheries in 100 miles. i know guys that travel that far just to fish it.

I will be around roch in a couple weeks and was thinkin about doin some shore fishing around zumbro. I hear most is privately owned. So maybe it will be hard to fish without a boat? So whats the deal with the dam? the only way to get down there is through the campground? Are there any spots you can get around with waders or anything?

You don't need waders on the Zumbro. The water is warm enough now to wet wade. Just throw on some old tennis shoes and wear long pants to protect yourself from weeds and brush when you're walking on shore. Then find a a bridge or someplace the river comes close to the road and you're good to go.

Water levels have come down quite a bit so all the branches and the main zumbro from the Dam to Zumbro Falls should be wadeable.

Sorney, there's probably two or more stories to every side of an issue. I have had good luck there and have taken time to establish a relationship with "Mac."

Randy Jr,

Does it or does it not cost 30 dollars to fish down there? To me thats absoulutley ridiculous!!! And, let me tell you I'm not the only one who thinks so!!! Howard charged $1. the first year Randy owned it he raised it to $5 which ticked off alot of people, but I still paid the five to fish it. Now you have to pay $30. Do you get to fish it for free? What kind of "relationship" with Randy do you have to have in order to fish down there?

First, edit your post, second, stop the name calling, third, if you want to chat shoot me an e-mail; if your desire is to make your posts a public outcry of what you feel is unfair, do it somewhere else. Perhaps the moderator could step in.

First, I'm sorry if it offends anyone if i've put names on the post it was certainly not my intention. Second, you need to leave your email addy in order for me to shoot you a private message. Third, this is a forum and I should be allowed to express my opinion as many others have regarding this situation. Look my aunt and uncle live 4 houses down from Mac's on the river so I can drop in a boat and motor up to the pool, but for others it's a shotty situation.
