It is getting hard to get a little fishing time in after work. I was trolling on third lake by Tim’s marina last night when someone cut right behind my boat, snagged my line and spooled me. It is just so unbelievable how oblivious some people are. I know the lake can get busy on Friday night so that is why I was trying to stay away from the crowds. Oh well, I guess it just give me a reason to go to Gander. The kicker is my line was only a week old!!!

the sweet revenge would be if the line got caught in his prop and blew out the lower unit seal... Id never wish that on anyone.. but there is no reason to drive that close to another boat. It may teach them a costly lesson.

Shotgun, I feel your pain. One of the reasons I started to fish the Croix more often was the inconsiderate boat traffic out there. Had a pesky jetskier doing donuts and running back and forth near where I was fishing within casting range. On the bright side the winter fishing can be fantastic and not all of the boaters out there are wonks. Like Deitz said, with any luck they will be needing a seal before the summer is out and that should slow them down for awhile:). Good luck out there and tightlines!

The biggest issue about the boater needing a seal, they'll blame it on the people fishing "because they threw their line overboard instead of throwing it away".

They'll never even put 2 and 2 together to realize when it happened.

They'll just think they ran over a spool's worth of line floating in the water, IF it even takes out the seal.

I agree that Forest has quite a few boaters with no etiquette. Friday, I was sitting close enough to another boat fishing that we were able to converse which was fine with me since we were both anchored. It was amazing how boats would cruise right between us within casting range. I always wonder what they are thinking or if they even are thinking.

Probably too stupid to think. I cannot understand why its so hard to slow down, or go around the boat???? I had one pontoon full of college kids just full lthrottle within castin distance.... on north side of lake 1.... if there was no chicks in the pontoon I wld had smack em with doublecowgirl.

Had an old timer and his wife cut right across my lines while trolling a couple years ago on the Croix. Sure enough he caught 1 of my lines with Fire line. I yanked it out of the rod holder stood up with my rod, opened the bail and started waving to the lady and pointing from my rod th there boat. She looked at me quizically said something to her husband then he floored it. I was really worried about getting hurt but it just snapped when it hit the end thankfully!

Ferny.
