Anyone catching bass in Eagan? I'm not!

But I was at Holland Lake a couple weeks ago and chatted with a Sherriff’s Deputy who was patrolling the park. He said someone pulled a 6 pounder out of the lake down the street; but he wasn't an angler and didn't have any details. I assumed it was Schultz, but I guess it could have been McDonough.

I've also been watching a pair on a bed, quite surprisingly, right by the pier on Fish. Until I went back last week and they were harvesting the algae, that is. I'm not sure if they’re still there or are just covered up by all the gunk that's floated to shore. I was just happy to see a big fish making babies in that lake.

Schultz and McDonough have some small largemouths in them, should be pretty good in the years to come, DNR is hoping to come throw in some good sized largemouths in July sometime. O'Brien had some good sized largemouths in it somehow still, at least 3 - 5 or 6lbers in there.

A guy pulled a 5.5 lb northern out of there yesterday, fishing off the dock.

There are plenty of lakes there that have decent bass....but they're jam packed with veggies right now! Bring a canoe and fish the holes....just got a 5.5 from a small lake in Egan on Monday night. Off a gulp worm with a bullet fishing in 6 feet of water. He was hiding off a slight drop off from a sunny spawn sand bar. They're there....you just have to find them.

Topwater dusk bite going on at times. The sunnier days yield the best late action. Hope you don't mind bats. You find the lake, I'll be there at 8:15 after work tonight with an open seat.

Pre-storm Monday eve, not the best. Eery orange skies in the east (yuck) and tornado sirens went off. Kept fishing for 15 minutes and got a 12" bass before I took shelter in the bathrooms.
Went back Tuesday and got 4 bass all 16 and 17". Pre-storm is not all it's cracked up to be.

It's one of those things you really shouldn't ignore, but I'm finding Eagan's a little trigger happy on that siren.

Last night 4 bass for me and 1 for my canoe partner. Spro frogs, Storm Chug Bugs, and texas rigged worms. One must have seen the bait on it's way down because he hit it at the instant it hit the water. Healthy fish in there, hard fighters. Going back for more possible sirens tonight.
That siren, by the way was warranted, but it was like 15-20 minutes before ANY rain. Winds 50-60 mph driving home and barely got the canoe tied down.

Remember I'm fishing by 8:15 after working until 8! Besides, they don't usually enforce that rule for boaters. How would you night fish otherwise?

Dakota county is one of the only counties that let the trigger on the sirens fly on severe thunderstorm warnings.
