I haven't tried the senko's wacky style yet, but have picked some up for an upcoming trip. How are folks weighing them down? Splitshot, bullets, weighted hooks....? Or is that defeting the purpose of the wacky rig and the action it provides?

no weight. Slow natural fall is best. Different brands of worms have different sink rates so its nice to have different kinds if your fishing a little deeper.

Salted worms sink faster, and I like to use a 1/16 or 1/32 oz. weighted wide gap hook if I'm trying to get the bait to fall faster. Slurpies sells a straight worm package with a regular hook and weighted hook that comes with it. If you want to consistently work them on the bottom or slightly off the bottom around weed edges, I like to carolina rig a floating wacky worm from bass assassin. Good luck.

I use spinning (7 foot medium action fast tip) gear with 8 pound test florocarbin....

I agree, this is my go to bass presentation when the fishing gets tough.

14 lb fireline is what I currently use. I might switch to 20 lb since Im probably gonna fish vermilion all the time when the bass action gets into full swing. I have used 30 lb fireline and it all the same results with any size line.

Fireline is a good choice, I use to be a big time fire line fisherman and I can see why it would come in handy on the rocky flats of vermilion.

I have to admit though, there is nothing like a stealth aproach with like tackle matched with florocarbon.

You will also get a bit more action out of the fireline.

I also like to use a 16oz rattle, like a tube rattle when fishing wacky. you should try it. add a little sound to the recipie.
