Hey I'm going on a family trip July 26-28 to Burntside. Just wondering how fishing has been up there and some tips. I was thinking about lake trout/walleye/bass. I've never fished Lake Trout before, but have caught some by accident on Trout Lake, so any tips here would be helpful. Thanks!

I'm heading for the dead sea tonight to spend a week with the folks. I'm bringing 3 boxes of baits, three different types of rods, and I plan to whip it to a froth. I'll post a report when I get back.

Try slip bobbers on shoreline break for smallies and during the day I see many fish on the shady side of islands when I am diving- none on the other sides. So you can eliminate a lot of dead water by keeping your bait out of the sun.

It' a tough lake to fish. Don't get discouraged when you drop your lure down twenty feet and you can see it on the bottom with not a fish around. Just keep moving and you will do fine.

Best of luck, bring a camera in the boat, and post pics, I'll do the same. Hans

The walleye fishing has been pretty good, fish just came on the reefs a week ago.

Caught 4 between 8 and 10lbs in the last week, plus numerous others from 2-6lbs, as Wanderer can verify. laugh

Bad news is the bass just came on the reefs the last few days. cry

Naaa, I saw some pics of those fish tonight. I have to agree a few of those fish had more in common with cod than with walleyes. wink

Jaxtas,

I'm crossing my fingers, hoping you catch the window when the big eyes are up. Sorry I can't be any more help than that. Burntside in the summer is a mission I have not yet engaged.

Hanso,

Looking forward to a report. And thanks for tip you posted.

G.O.

The best thing about a Lutefisk dinner is the white sauce. I CAN say that from experience. And yes, I wish I could be there long lining those toads right now!
