HI F.M.ERS,
WELL BETWEEN HURRICANS, FISHING HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN VERY DIFFERENT. HIGH WATER, HIGH WINDS, LOTS OF STORMS & RAIN!!! IN MAY & JUNE MY HAUNTS ARE USUALLY ON THE WEST END OF RAINY, AS WELL AS CANADA. THIS YEAR THE EAST END OF RAINY SEEMED TO BE ALOT BETTER FISHING EARLY., SO I WAS HEADING THRU THE BRULE ALOT IN JUNE. NOW THE WEST END OF THE LAKE HAS REALLY PICKED UP, SOME PLACES STILL SPOTTY, BUT SOME PLACES ARE GANGBUSTERS. WE HAVE BEEN FISHING REEFS & ISLAND BREAKLINES FROM 20 TO 35 FEET, USING LINDY & SHINNERS (SOME CRAWLERS & LEECHES ALSO) JIGGING ALSO IS WORKING BUT NOT AS WELL AS LINDYS. UFFDA PETE (MY BRO) HAS ALSO DONE VERY WELL ON GULP ALIVE(3" YELLOW MINNOWS). PART OF HIS SECRET IS USING LIGHT LEAD HEADS., I'M TALKING 1/16 OR 1/8TH OZ., I LIKE THE LONGER SHANK SHINNER JIGS. WHATEVER WEIGHT HE CAN GET BY WITH. THE FISH LIKE THAT SLOW DROP. I DO NOT FISH WITH THE CONFIDENCE HE DOES WITH THEM, BUT DO KNOW THEY WORK, THE OTHER DAY I USED THEM, CATCHING A 13# NORTHERN & 25" WALLEYE. I KNOW TOM WORTH WHO GOES SOUTH FOR THE WINTER, HAS ACTUALLY QUIT USING LIVE BAIT ALL TOGETHER. TOM IS A EXCELLENT FISHERMAN!
SINCERELY,
FISHMEISTER

Bill, great advice! Do you know if there are muskies in Bleak and Swell Bay? Staying on Jackfish this summer and want to get into some muskies with a RBC permit. Thanks and see you soon!

HI BILLYFINN,
TEARING LIPS IS BILL///FISHMEISTER IS DAVE
JUST THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW. BEST PLACE TO CATCH MUSKIES IS RED GUT & SEINE BAY. I'M SURE THERE ARE MUSKIES ALL OVER RAINY, BUT I WOULD NOT CHOOSE BLEAK OR SWELL.
SINCERELY,
FISHMEISTER

I have seen one musky in the North Arm in 40 years. However it was the biggest one I have ever seen!.

I have finally been getting out a little bit this summer. Like Dave said the west side is looking good and the fish are on the reefs!!! The East end has been excellent but the fish are big and hard to find anything out of the slot limit. We caught 42 fish near Shelland in 2 hours last Sunday and all between 19 and 26 inches. Fun day of fishing but no shore lunch
