Winnie, Pokegama, Bowstring and Sand Lake report


Can you believe it it’s the 9th of July and we are still using spottail shiners, Everything is just late up here in the northland. We have been fishing Pokegama a couple times this last week. We have been looking for those nice northerns, It was pretty decent a lot of our fish came out of the weed line in 15-19 ft of water. The structure closer to shore seemed to be the best for us. The nice thing about Pokie is when you are out there you never know what will be on the end of your line, we caught Walleye, Bass, Perch and northern all on the same presentation in the same depths.
Winnie has been great as of late, we have been out on the humps. North, center, west all the humps I have been on the last few days have had fish. I have been either using ¼ oz Gumball from northland and a shiner or a lindy with a 4-6ft snell and a leech both have worked well.
Bowstring has also been going full bore with most of the fish coming off the humps and bars in the middle of the lake. Again it doesn’t seem to matter jig and a shiner or a lindy with leech or crawler.
Sand lake was my last stop for the week and although we caught a lot of small Walleye after a day of catching your box is full or close too of decent fish from 13-16 inch fish. Sand for me has been a jig and minnow bite, 1/8 fireball or gumball with a shiner. The cool thing about Sand is we get them on the weedline in 9-12 ft or out deep in 17-20 ft either way there is a lot of fish.
